I find most of the materials that I work with at thrift and vintage shops around the city. I try to avoid buying stuff at fabric shops. There's something about putting new life into a rug that might have been around since the 70's. All the people that walked all over it. All the people who sat around it. Don't worry, everything is cleaned. 

A lot of the pieces that I make are 1 of 1 since there's only enough salvageable material to make one size. Sometime's I'm lucky and can make a few hats out of it. It makes it that much cooler though when you know it's the only one made. No other hat like it. Maybe it doesn't fit the way that you're usually accustomed to. That's that beauty of it.
